Rogelio Benavidez-Urrea Killed in San Juan 2-vehicle Collision Friday Afternoon

San Juan, TX – One person, identified as 76-year-od Rogelio Benavidez-Urrea was killed following a two-vehicle accident in San Juan Friday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)

The deadly accident happened at about 1:48 p.m. on December 13 at Stewart Road and U.S. 18 Military Road, south of San Juan.

Rogelio Benavidez-Urrea Dies in Collision with Semi-Trailer on Stewart Road

DPS reported that a semi-trailer was heading northbound on Stewart Road when the driver disregarded a red flashing light with a stop sign and collided with a Honda operated by Rogelio Benavidez-Urrea at the intersection.

Benavidez-Urrea sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi-trailer was injured and was transported to the hospital.

No additional information was provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
