According to HPD, at about 7 p.m. on October 9, Humble Police spotted a stolen vehicle, occupied by a male driver and a female passenger, at a hotel on US 59 in Houston.

Woman Critically Injured in Houston Head-on Collision Involving Wrong-Way Driver on US 59

Houston, TX – An innocent female driver was critically injured after a police chase ended with a suspect driver colliding head-on with another vehicle on US-59 in Houston Wednesday evening.

According to HPD, at about 7 p.m. on October 9, Humble Police spotted a stolen vehicle, occupied by a male driver and a female passenger, at a hotel on US 59 in Humble.

The police attempted to stop it, but the vehicle fled at a speed of over 100mph. The vehicle traveled southbound on I-59 to Greens where it made a U-turn and went northbound to FM 1314 in Montgomery County.

At some point, the female passenger exited the vehicle and the suspect continued driving. The woman was arrested by Humble Police.

The Humble police requested Houston PD Air Support to help locate the suspect.

Humble PD and Montgomery County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office requested a Houston Police Department helicopter to look for the suspect, who was believed to be armed.

Reportedly, the suspect drove the wrong way several times while being pursued.  The suspect drove southbound in the northbound lanes of the freeway, cut across the northbound lanes, went across the median and into the northbound feeder road from Rankin, and collided head-on with a small Kia SUV at about 7:30 p.m.

The driver of the Kia, who was only identified as a woman, sustained critical injuries and was taken to Kingwood Hospital.

The suspect was arrested.

According to HPD, the northbound feeder of US-59 at Greens was closed for several hours.

The incident remains under investigation.
