Callahan County, Texas – One person was killed and another was injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Callahan County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 3:40 p.m., May 31, at the intersection of Highway 36 and US 283.

DPS said a Kia Optima was traveling northbound on US 283 while a Ford pickup was traveling eastbound on SH 36.

The Kia failed to stop at the stop sign, failed to yield the right of way, and was struck on the driver’s side by the Ford.

The Kia driver, 21-year-old Wylie Howard Parker III of Troy, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ford driver was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
