Amarillo, Texas (June 26, 2018) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Sunday morning in Amarillo, according to police.
The crash happened at about 7:45 a.m. June 24, on East Amarillo Boulevard at Taylor Drive.
The Amarillo police said Brian Valdespino, 30, was driving a Chevy truck eastbound on Amarillo Boulevard when he failed to stop for a red light and crashed into a Dodge Caliber traveling south on Taylor Drive.
Yessica Veronica Fuentes Montalvo, 43, was a passenger in the Dodge and was transported to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the Dodge, a 65-year-old man, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
APD said Valdespino fled the scene of the crash but was later caught and taken into custody.
Alcohol and drugs were factors in the crash, police said.
The crash is under investigation.
