Akm Shamsul Karim Killed in 2-Vehicle Accident on Highway 69 N in Wood County

Akm Shamsul Karim ID’d as One Of Two Killed in Wood County Crash on Highway 69 North at FM 779
Wood County, Texas (May 23, 2019) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified Akm Shamsul Karim, 35, of Irving as one of the two people who were killed Wednesday night in a traffic accident in Wood County.
The deadly two-car crash occurred Wednesday, May 22 on Highway 69 North at FM 779 between the cities of Mineola and Alba.
According to the DPS, a 2018 Cadillac XTS driven by Karim, was stopped on FM 779 at the intersection of Highway 69, facing northeast while Jairol Tejeda Limonte, 25, of Baytown, was driving a semi-truck southeast on Highway 69.
The semi-truck approached the intersection at the same time as the Cadillac. The Cadillac then entered the intersection and was hit by the truck.
Karim died in the accident. A 17-year-old girl, who was riding in the back seat of the Cadillac, was also killed in the wreck.
The other passengers of the Cadillac, Brody Spann, 37, a 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, sustained major injuries and were all transported to a hospital in Tyler.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
