Alexa Barrera Hit, Killed by Vehicle near Oran Roberts Elementary School in El Paso
Alexa Barrera ID’d as First-Grader Killed in El Paso Pedestrian Accident on Ridge Street at Thorn Avenue
El Paso, Texas (October 10, 2019) – The 7-year-old who was fatally hit by a vehicle Wednesday morning in El Paso has been identified as Alexa Barrera, according to the police.
The accident took place around 7:54 a.m. October 9, on Ridge Street at Thorn Avenue near Oran Roberts Elementary School.
Police said 26-year-old Marisol Castro Cervantes was driving southbound on Ridge Street and was making an eastbound turn onto Thorn Avenue when she hit Barrera and a 14-year-old girl who were in a crosswalk.
The impact knocked the girls to the ground, and Barrera was run over by the vehicle.
Barrera was declared dead at the scene. The other victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Cervantes stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
An investigation is underway.
