Girl, 8, Critically Injured, Angela Smith Arrested after Fort Bend County Pedestrian Crash at Bissonnet and Hodges Bend

Fort Bend County, Texas (June 22, 2019) – A suspect of a Thursday hit-and-run accident that left an 8-year-old girl critically injured in Fort Bend County was arrested by the authorities.

According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred on Thursday, June 20, in the area of Bissonnet and Hodges Bend.

Deputies said the driver, identified as Angela Smith, 38, ran a stop sign at the intersection and hit the girl near the Hodge’s Bend Middle School on the Four Corners area.

Smith fled the scene after the accident.

The girl was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The deputies on Friday afternoon located Smith and the vehicle, a dark gray Nissan Altima, in the area of Edgewood Park at Bellfort and Southpark.

Smith was taken into custody and she reportedly confessed to be the driver who fled the scene after hitting the girl.

Smith could be charged with failure to stop and render aid.

The crash is under investigation.
