Anthony Gonzalez ID’d as Driver Killed in Jackson County Crash on FM 1593 near Lolita

Jackson County, Texas (February 2, 2019) – The Department of Public Safety has identified the driver who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Monday morning in Jackson County.
Anthony Arturo Gonzalez, 30, of Alamo died in the tragic accident that happened just before 7:00 a.m. Monday, January 28 on Farm-to-Market Road 1593, approximately 5 miles south of Lolita.
As per the report, Gonzalez was driving a 2014 Chevrolet truck southbound on FM 1593 when, for an unknown reason, he slammed into the rear two axles of a tractor-trailer.
The force of the crash caused the truck to spin into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another tractor-trailer. That impact caused the second tractor-trailer to flip over and burst into flames.
Gonzalez was declared deceased at the scene.
The operator of the second tractor-trailer was uninjured.
No other injuries were reported in the crash.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
