Anthony Wayne Washington ID’d as Man Killed in Austin Bicycle Accident on I-35 and Ben White Boulevard Service Roads

Austin, Texas (August 30, 2019) – The man who was killed last Friday in a bicycle accident at an Austin intersection has been identified as Anthony Wayne Washington, 36, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened at about 1:00 p.m. August 23, at the intersection of the southbound I-35 and eastbound Ben White Boulevard service roads.

Police said Washington was riding a bicycle eastbound on the Ben White Boulevard service road when he ran a red light and crossed over into the southbound lanes of the I-35 service road. A 2017 Chevrolet Cruz was traveling in the far left lane of the I-35 service road and when the driver saw Washington enter the intersection she honked to alert him.

The Chevrolet driver attempted to stop but was unable and crashed into the bicycle.

Washington was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center where he was declared dead.

The Chevrolet driver stayed at the scene.
