Autumn Stephens Injured in San Augustine County 18-Wheeler Crash on US 96 and SH 147

San Augustine County, Texas (September 5, 2020) – A woman was injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in San Augustine County, according to the Texas DPS.

The crash happened around 1:00 p.m., September 3, at the intersection of US 96 and SH 147.

DPS said Autumn Stephens, 20, of Lufkin, was driving southbound on SH 147 when she stopped at the intersection. She then attempted to cross into US 96 and was hit by a northbound 18-wheeler driven by George Mururu, 38, of Frisco.

Stephens was taken to UT Tyler for treatment.

Mururu was uninjured in the crash.

No other information was available.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
