Beat Burkart ID’d as Victim Killed in Howard County Plane Accident near Big Spring

Howard County, Texas (August 31, 2019) – Authorities have identified the person who was killed in a plane crash last week Friday in Howard County as Beat Burkart, 50.

The fatal plane accident happened near Big Spring Friday, August 23.

Authorities said Burkar, who is originally from Switzerland, was piloting an experimental Meyers Midget 0100 racing airplane when for an unknown reason, the plane decided to take a roll at 4000-feet and went upside down.

The plane then started to descend in a spiral and crashed into the ground.

Burkart died in the accident. According to the authorities, Burkart was set to perform next month.

No further details were immediately given.

Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the crash.
