Belinda Sanabria and Matias Mendoza ID’d as Two Killed in Axtell Crash on SH 31 and FM 2311
Axtell, Texas (April 2, 2019) – The two people who were killed early Saturday morning in a traffic accident near Axtell has been identified as Belinda Sanabria, 55, and Matias Sanabria Mendoza, 50, both of San Antonio, according to the authorities.
The deadly crash was reported at about 3:00 a.m. Saturday, March 30 on State Highway 31 at FM 2311, northeast of Axtell.
The DPS said a GMC SUV was heading southbound on FM 2311 when the driver ran a red light and struck a Hyundai sedan driven by Sanabria, who was traveling eastbound on State Highway 31. The Hyundai then rolled over several times after the impact.
Sanabria and her passenger, Mendoza, were both declared dead at the scene. The passenger of the SUV was transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Waco with incapacitating injuries.
The driver of the SUV was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
