Betsy Mandujano, Mathew Banda Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Harbor Bridge in Corpus Christi

San Patricio County Communications Operator Betsy Mandujano and Mathew Banda Killed in Corpus Christi Crash on Harbor Bridge

Corpus Christi, Texas (November 3, 2022) – The two people who died on Wednesday night in a wrong-way, head-on crash in Corpus Christi have been identified as Betsy Mandujano, 37, a San Patricio County Communications operator, and 27-year-old Mathew Adam Banda, the brother of Major League Baseball pitcher Anthony Banda.

The fatal crash took place on Harbor Bridge on Wednesday, November 2.

According to the Corpus Christi Police Department,  Mandujano was driving into Corpus Christi with her friend, Banda, when their vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle that was traveling in the wrong direction.

Mandujano and Banda were killed in the crash.

The wrong-way driver, only identified as a 35-year-old woman, was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for her injuries before being arrested. She will be charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of intoxication assault in the crash.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
