72-Year-Old Betty Nichols Among 2 Injured in Rose City Collision on Interstate 10

Rose City, Texas (July 14, 2022) – Betty Nichols, 72, a resident of Buna, was among two people who were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Rose City on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The three-car wreck happened at around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, on Interstate Highway 10 near Mile Marker 857.

DPS said Eugene Breaux, 69, of Sour Lake, was driving a 2008 Dodge pickup in the right lane of Interstate 10 when he tried to swerve into the center lane to avoid a potential hazard in the roadway but instead hit a 2019 BMW SUV, which then struck a 2004 International truck tractor semi-trailer.

Nichols, the driver of the BMW, was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont in unknown condition.

The driver of the International, Jose Osorto-Maldonado, 46, of Houston, was also taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with unspecified injuries.

Breaux did not suffer any injuries.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
