Amarillo, Texas (May 8, 2022) – Authorities have identified one of the two people who died Friday following a two-vehicle crash in Amarillo as Bettye A. Montano, 51.

The deadly crash happened at around noon Friday, May 6, at the intersection of 34th Avenue and Lipscomb Street, according to a report by the Amarillo Police Department.

Police said a Ford Mustang and a Dodge Durango were traveling westbound on 34th Avenue when they collided. The impact caused both vehicles to overturn. The Mustang ended up crashing into a home.

Montano and another passenger in the Durango were pronounced dead at the scene. One other person suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.

The occupants of the Mustang had only minor injuries.

The Amarillo Police Department is investigating the crash.
