Beverley Barton and Harold Thompson Killed in Lone Oak Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 69 near Whelan Road
Lone Oak, Texas (July 24, 2019) – Two people were killed Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash near Lone Oak, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal crash happened around 6:30 p.m. July 21, on U.S. Highway 69 just north of Whelan Road.
DPS said Harold Thompson of Greenville, was driving a silver Jeep southbound on the highway while Beverley Barton of Emory, was driving a Grand Caravan northbound. For an unknown reason, the Jeep crossed into the northbound lane and crashed head-on into the Caravan.
Barton was declared dead at the scene while Thompson was airlifted to the Medical City of Plano where he later died.
The crash remains under investigation.
