Billy Ray Miller Killed in Copperas Cove Motorcycle Accident on Willow Loop at FM 116

Copperas Cove, Texas (March 26, 2021) – According to the DPS, a man was killed on Thursday in a motorcycle accident in Copperas Cove.

The deadly accident happened on March 25, at the intersection of FM 116 and Willow Loop.

DPS said a 2005 Dodge 1500 pick-up truck driven by a 73-year-old Copperas Cove woman was stopped at the intersection while a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on FM 116 approaching the intersection.

The Dodge failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and pulled into the motorcycle’s path, causing the motorcycle to crash into the Dodge’s left rear side.

The motorcycle rider, Billy Ray Miller, 55, of Copperas Cove, was taken to the Baylor Scott and White emergency room in Temple, where he later died.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases, the accident results in death.
