Border Patrol Agent Hit by Vehicle during Pursuit on I-10 in El Paso
Border Patrol Agent Injured in El Paso Pedestrian Accident on I-10 near the Sierra Blanca Checkpoint
El Paso, Texas (September 18, 2019) – An El Paso area Border Patrol agent was hit by a vehicle Tuesday night during a pursuit near the Sierra Blanca Checkpoint, according to officials.
The accident occurred around 10:00 p.m. September 17, on I-10, near mile marker 106.
DPS said a vehicle entered the Border Patrol checkpoint in the eastbound lanes of the interstate and the driver evaded the checkpoint, resulting in pursuit by Border Patrol agents.
The driver got out of the vehicle and was followed by the agents on foot.
One of the agents was then hit by a vehicle which was not involved in the incident.
The agent was taken to Del Sol Hospital in unknown condition.
It’s unclear if the suspect was arrested.
The crash remains under investigation.
