Boy Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash at North 12th and Kirkwood Streets in Abilene

13-Year-Old Boy Injured in Abilene Pedestrian Accident at North 12th and Kirkwood Streets

Abilene, Texas (August 14, 2020) – A 13-year-old boy was injured in a hit-and-run crash Sunday night in Abilene, according to a local news source.

The accident happened at about 9:00 a.m., August 9, at the intersection of North 12th and Kirkwood streets.

According to the report, the boy had gone swimming at a friend’s house, and as he was walking home, a dog jumped a fence, and the boy ran into the street to get away from the dog. He was then struck by a car that fled the scene.

The boy sustained a broken ankle, fractured skull, concussion, and road rash. He was taken to Hendrick Medical Center and then airlifted to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth. He has since been released from the hospital.

The police are looking for the suspect. 

An investigation is underway. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call Abilene police.
