Brandon Thompson Killed in Navarro County Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate Highway 45

Navarro County, Texas (January 18, 2021) – A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Navarro County, according to Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 12:40 a.m., January 16, on Interstate Highway 45, at the 237 exit.

DPS said Brandon Thompson, 32, of Dallas, was driving a 2004 Nissan Altima northbound on the interstate. A blue 2015 Kenworth truck tractor towing a silver tanker trailer was traveling northbound behind the Nissan in the center lane.

For an unknown reason, the Nissan crashed into the center wall. The truck tractor then hit the Nissan.

The force of the impact caused the truck tractor to roll onto the center wall, and the semi-trailer blocked all three northbound lanes.

Hazardous material tar was spilled from the semi-trailer, and the roadway was closed for several hours.

Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck tractor driver, Doniacano Ortega, 61, of Katy, was uninjured in the crash.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
