Brendon J. Spires Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on I-20 in Erath County

Brendon J. Spires Killed in Erath County Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 20

Erath County, Texas (September 6, 2020) – Two people were killed Friday morning in a head-on collision in Erath County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 12:10 a.m., September 4, on Interstate 20.

DPS said Gilberto J. Moreno, 46, of Grand Prairie, was driving a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country eastbound in the westbound lanes of the interstate when he crashed head-on into a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by 19-year-old Brendon J. Spires of Anson.

The minivan caught fire after the collision.

Spires and Moreno were pronounced dead at the scene.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
