Brian Gallander Among 2 Injured in Liberty County Car Crash on State Highway 105 near Moss Hill

Liberty County, Texas (June 18, 2022) – Brian Gallander, 58, of Batson, was one of the two people who were injured Thursday evening in a three-vehicle accident that also killed a 47-year-old Batson woman in Liberty County.

The crash happened at about 4:20 p.m. Thursday, June 16, on State Highway 105, just east of Moss Hill, approximately one mile from the Liberty-Hardin county line.

A Walmart tractor-trailer, driven by David Dobson, 29, of Humble, Texas, was traveling westbound on State Highway 105 when the tractor-trailer collided head-on with an eastbound 2018 Chevy Silverado driven by Gallander.

The Silverado reportedly veered into the westbound lane and hit the tractor-trailer on its driver’s side. After the impact, the tractor-trailer jackknifed and traveled across both lanes, colliding with a 2011 Toyota Tundra that was heading eastbound on State Highway 105.

The driver of the Tundra,  Dorothy “Christy” Guedry Weaver, 47, of Batson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gallander was airlifted to a Houston-area trauma center in serious but stable condition. Dobson was transported by ground ambulance to Liberty-Dayton Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Authorities said Gallander may face criminal charges.

No further details about the crash were immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
