Brittanie Denise Williams Killed in Van Zandt County Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 20 near Canton

Van Zandt County, Texas (August 5, 2020) – The woman who was injured in a two-vehicle crash last Sunday in Van Zandt County about three miles west of Canton, has died, according to the DPS.

Brittanie Denise Williams, 33, of Fort Worth, died on August 2.

The crash happened at about 8:00 p.m., July 26, on Interstate 20 westbound.

According to a preliminary investigation, Lattoya Janece Davis, 39, of Fort Worth, was driving a 2004 Ford Expedition westbound in the left lane of the interstate when the vehicle’s left rear tire blew out, causing Davis to lose control. She swerved to the right where she struck a 2003 Hyundai Elantra that was traveling ahead in the right lane.

The Ford then traveled off the roadway where it rolled down an embankment while the Hyundai traveled into the center median.

Davis was treated and released at the scene. Williams was a passenger in the Expedition and was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to UT Southwestern Medical Center – Dallas, where she died on August 2.

The driver and passengers in the Hyundai were treated and released at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
