Carlos Moncada Cruz ID’d as Person Killed in Austin Car Crash on U.S. 290 near FM 1826
Austin, Texas (May 14, 2019) – The person who was killed last month in a traffic accident in Austin has been identified as Carlos Moncada Cruz, 19, according to the police.
The fatal crash happened on April 18, on U.S. 290 near Farm-to-Market Road 1826.
Police said an SUV was exiting a private drive on US 290 when the driver ignored a posted sign that said “right turn only,” and turned left into traffic, resulting in a collision with a silver car, driven by Cruz. The silver car was pushed into the eastbound lanes of US 290 where it was hit by a truck.
Cruz was declared dead at the scene.
The truck driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The SUV driver was cited for ignoring a posted sign.
An investigation is ongoing.
