Chandler Sikes Killed in Abilene Four-Vehicle Crash on Southwest Drive

Abilene, Texas (September 22, 2021) – One person was killed, and three others were injured Tuesday afternoon in a four-vehicle crash in Abilene, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 12:03 p.m., September 21, on Southwest Drive at Brookhollow Drive.

Authorities said Sebastian Ochoa, 19, of El Paso, was driving a gold Honda Civic westbound in the inside lane when he failed to control his speed and rear-ended a black Jeep Grand Cherokee. The impact caused both vehicles to veer into oncoming traffic. An eastbound Chevy Silverado then crashed head-on into the Honda. A grey Ford F150 then rear-ended the Chevy.

Chandler Sikes, 18, of Powderly, who was a passenger in the Honda, was killed in the crash. Ochoa was taken to a local hospital with lacerations to the face. They were both college students at a local university.

Two other drivers sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
