Charles Russell Easley Killed in Van Zandt County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 1861 near County Road 2908

Van Zandt County, Texas (May 31, 2020) – A man was killed Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Van Zandt County, a local news source reported.

The fatal crash occurred on May 30, on FM 1861, near County Road 2908.

DPS said Christina Shawn Zark, 51, of Eustace, was driving a 199 Mazda B series eastbound behind a 2008 Kawasaki Mule driven by Charles Russell Easley, 73, of Eustace.

Zark pulled into the westbound lane to pass Easley in a passing zone. Easley then attempted to make a left turn onto County Road 2908, and the two vehicles collided.

The impact caused the Kawasaki to enter a side skid and roll onto its left side, partially ejecting Easley, who was not wearing a seatbelt.

Easley was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Zark was treated and released at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Charles Russell Easley.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
