Charles West Killed and Stephen Litchfield Injured in New Braunfels Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 306

New Braunfels, Texas (May 20, 2020) – One person was killed, and another was seriously injured in a head-on collision last week Tuesday morning in New Braunfels, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 8:30 a.m. May 12, in the 8100 block of FM 306 between Purgatory Road and River Trace Drive.

DPS said Charles West, 63, of New Braunfels, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet pickup northbound on the highway in rainy conditions when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road and veered into the southbound lane.

West then crashed head-on into a southbound 2018 Chevrolet pickup driven by Stephen Litchfield, 59, of Canyon Lake.

West was pronounced dead at the scene.

Litchfield had to be extricated and was taken to Ascension Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle with serious injuries.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Charles West. We also wish Stephen Litchfield a quick recovery.
