Child Dies after Two-Vehicle Accident at FM 105 and Lakeview Cutoff in Orange County

Vidor Middle School Student Killed in Orange County Car Crash at FM 104 and Lakeview Cutoff

Orange County, Texas (April 26, 2019) –  A child who had been hospitalized along with two adults following a two-vehicle collision on Wednesday night in Orange County later succumbed to the injuries.
The accident happened at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, at the intersection of FM 105 and Lakeview Cutoff.
According to police, a KIA passenger vehicle was traveling northbound on FM 105 while a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling southbound. The KIA driver tried to turn left onto Lakeview Cutoff and pulled directly into the path of the Chevrolet pickup truck. The KIA was hit on the passenger-side door by the Chevrolet.
The KIA driver, 39-year-old Tabitha Butler of Lumberton, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Her 11-year-old child, a fifth grader at Vidor Middle School, was taken to CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth in Beaumont with serious injuries and was pronounced dead just after 9 p.m.
The Chevrolet driver,  41-year-old Ricky Brashier of Vidor, was also taken to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.
All northbound and southbound lanes of FM 105 were closed following the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
