Christopher Rutherford Killed in Harrison County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 59

Harrison County, Texas (September 15, 2021) – One person was killed and another was injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Harrison County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 12:15 p.m., September 14, on US 59, about one mile north of Marshall.

DPS said a 2012 Dodge Ram was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of the highway from a private drive when it failed to yield the right of way and was struck by a northbound 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer.

The Dodge driver, Christopher Rutherford, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Mitsubishi driver, a 35-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
