Danny Clawson Injured in Littlefield Crash at East Loop 430 and U.S. Highway 84

Littlefield, Texas (July 21, 2022) – Danny Clawson, 67, of Lubbock, was injured after being involved in a crash that left two people dead Wednesday morning near Littlefield.

The deadly crash took on July 20 at the intersection of East Loop 430 and U.S. Highway 84, the Littlefield Police Department reported.

According to the police report, a Silver 2004 Jeep Liberty SUV, driven by Carmen Rodriguez, 30, of Abilene, had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of East Loop 430 and the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 84 and was facing southbound.

Rodriguez failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic and pulled out in front of a loaded 2014 Peterbilt Bobtail truck, driven by Clawson.  The truck reportedly slammed into the Jeep on the driver’s side.

Carmen Rodriguez and the right front passenger of the car, Rosalin Rodriguez, 13, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 5-year-old boy who was sitting on an approved safety seat in the left back seat of the car sustained a broken leg and head injuries. He was transported to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, where he underwent surgery.

The two-month-old infant girl was sitting in an approved safety device in the right rear seat of the car and did not suffer any injuries.

Clawson sustained minor injuries to his arm but declined medical treatment at the scene.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
