Darien Lewis Killed in SW Houston Pedestrian Accident on Leawood Boulevard; Pedro Hernandez Arrested

Houston, Texas (October 9, 2022) – A 6-year-old boy was fatally hit by a suspected driver last Saturday in southwest Houston, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 5:54 p.m., October 1, on Leawood Boulevard, in the parking lot of the Washeteria laundromat.

Police said 6-year-old Darien Lewis was walking through the parking lot when he was run over multiple times by a suspected drunk driver identified as 52-year-old Pedro Hernandez.

Lewis was killed in the crash. A GoFundMe has been set up to help with Darien’s funeral expenses.

Hernandez was arrested and charged with felony murder. His bonds have been set at nearly $1 million. He is a repeat offender with three different DWI charges in three different counties since 2015.

The police are investigating the crash.
