Darla Masters Killed in Bowie County Train Crash on SH 8 near US 67

Bowie County, Texas (March 15, 2022) – A woman was killed Sunday night in a train crash in Maud, Bowie County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 3:45 p.m., March 13, on SH 8, just south of US 67.

DPS said Darla Masters, 49, was driving a 2022 Dodge Ram southbound on the highway when she reportedly ignored the activated railroad crossing arms and tried to drive over the tracks. She drove into the path of a westbound train, and her Dodge was hit by the train.

Masters was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details were provided.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
