Lubbock, Texas (April 22, 2021) – Three people, including an officer, were injured Tuesday evening in a traffic accident in Lubbock, according to the police.

The crash occurred just before 5:30 p.m., April 20, in the 3500 block of Avenue Q.

Police said David Greenwood, 45, was riding a motorcycle southbound while an LPD officer was driving northbound. The officer initiated a stop for a traffic violation, and the vehicle that was being stopped turned westbound into an alleyway. The officer also made the same turn, and as they were doing so, Greenwood struck the patrol vehicle.

Greenwood and his passenger, 44-year-old Tonia Flores, were taken to University Medical Center with moderate injuries. The officer sustained minor injuries in the crash.

An investigation is underway.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
