Dawon Jermaine Davis Hit, Killed by Car on I-35 in North Austin

31-Year-Old Dawon Jermaine Davis Killed in North Austin Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 35

Austin, Texas (May 19, 2020) – The man who was fatally hit by a vehicle early Friday morning in north Austin has been identified as Dawon Jermaine Davis, 31, according to police.

The deadly accident happened around 2:35 a.m., May 15, on Interstate 35 between the Yager Lane and Braker Lane exits.

Police said Davis was walking in the southbound lanes of I-35 when he attempted to cross from the center median to the west side and was struck by a southbound 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis in the middle lane.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Marquis driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

Investigators said impairment, speeding, or weather/road conditions were not factors in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is underway. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit at (512) 974-4278.
