Deputy Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on McNeil Drive in Austin

Deputy Hospitalized After Austin Pedestrian Accident on McNeil Drive

Austin, Texas (October 21, 2020) – An on-duty deputy was injured Tuesday morning in a hit-and-run crash in Austin, according to authorities.

The accident occurred at about 9:21 a.m., October 20, on McNeil Drive.

Authorities said three deputies were conducting traffic in a school zone when one of the deputies walked into an empty lane to stop a car in the other lane. The driver of that car swerved and hit the deputy.

That car then fled the scene.

The deputy was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, where he was treated and released.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a silver Lexus ES 350, possibly with a Texas license plate numbered MNP4774. It was last seen heading westbound on McNeil Drive from West Parmer Lane and might have front bumper damage.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the TCSO Tip Line at (512) 854-1444.

We wish the injured victim a quick recovery.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statues which were violated.
