Deputy John Andrew Rhoden Struck, Killed by Vehicle on Interstate 35 in Temple

Deputy John Andrew Rhoden Killed in Temple Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 35

Temple, Texas (April 27, 2020) – A Bell County deputy was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Temple, according to authorities.

The accident occurred at about 1:45 a.m. April 26, on Interstate 35.

Authorities said the Bell County Sheriff’s Department was called to assist the William County Sheriff’s Office in stopping a vehicle that had been pursued into Bell County.

Deputy John Andrew Rhoden, 31, was attempting to deploy spike strips on the highway when he was struck by a vehicle.

The vehicle that hit Deputy Rhoden was not the vehicle that was being pursued.

Rhoden was killed in the accident.

The 100 Club of Central Texas has activated the Survivor Fund in response to the line of duty death of Deputy Rhoden.

The authorities are investigating the accident.
