Derek Allen Twyman Jr. Killed in San Antonio Four-Vehicle Crash on McCullough Avenue at Millwood Lane

San Antonio, Texas (July 13, 2020) – Three people were killed last month in a street racing crash in San Antonio ’s North Side, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. on June 24, at the intersection of McCullough Avenue and Millwood Lane.

Police said two vehicles were racing southbound in the 8100 block of McCullough Avenue.

One of the cars lost control when a beige SUV entered the road at the intersection and went into a sideways skid before crashing into a tree.

The other car involved in the race collided with the SUV and came to a stop on the opposite side of McCullough.

James Edward Ewell III and Briana Sorrell were in the car that crashed into the tree and were declared dead at the scene. 

Five people were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

Derek Allen Twyman Jr., 20, died at University Hospital on July 4.

A fourth vehicle, a black sedan, which was possibly involved in the crash, fled the scene.

The racing drivers were described as in their late teens or early 20s.

The crash remains under investigation.
