Destiny Okoronkwo Killed and Karlonte Jackson Injured in Lubbock Two-Vehicle Crash at Marsha Sharp Freeway and Interstate 27

Lubbock, Texas (December 7, 2021) – One person was killed, and two others were injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Lubbock, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 6:06 a.m., December 6, at the intersection of the Marsha Sharp Freeway and Interstate 27 access roads.

Police said Destiny Okoronkwo, 19, was driving a Ford Fusion westbound on the Marsha Sharp Freeway access road while Karlonte Jackson, 27, was driving a Chrysler 200 northbound on the Interstate 27 access road. The vehicles then collided at the intersection.

Okoronkwo was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jackson and a passenger in the Chrysler sustained minor injuries.

The crash closed the roads near the intersection for about five hours.

The Lubbock Police Department Major Crash Unit is investigating the crash.
