Dezmond McKinney Killed in Shelby County Two-Vehicle Crash at U.S. 59 and U.S. 84

Shelby County, Texas (January 11, 2020) – A Louisiana man was killed in an 18-wheeler crash Thursday night in Timpson, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash occurred around 9:50 p.m. January 9, at the intersection of U.S. 59 and U.S. 84.

DPS said Dezmond McKinney, 27, of Mansfield, La., was driving a 1997 Honda passenger car when he failed to yield the right of way from U.S. 84 and was hit by a southbound 2019 Freightliner truck semi-trailer driven by  Maksym Kabakov,50, of Des Plaines, Illinois.

Mckinney was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kabakov was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
