Dwight Garrett Thomas Killed in San Marcos Pedestrian Accident on Post Road; Brenda Vasquez Hurtado Arrested

San Marcos, Texas (June 17, 2020) – A man was killed earlier this month in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident in San Marcos, according to the police.

The deadly accident took place around 10:00 p.m. on June 1, in the 1600 block of Post Road.

Authorities said Dwight Garrett Thomas, 41, was walking with another man on the edge of a sidewalk or in a bicycle lane when he was struck by a Ford Explorer driven by Brenda Vasquez Hurtado, 41.

Hurtado fled the scene after the accident.

Thomas was taken to Ascension Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle, where he later died.

An arrested warrant for Hurtado was issued on June 10, and she surrendered herself to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office on June 15. She has been charged with Accident Involving Death, a second-degree felony. Bond has been set at $100,000.

The police are investigating the crash.
