Elderly Woman Dead in 3-Car Accident on Northwest Freeway in Houston

79-Old Woman Killed in Houston Crash at Gessner Road and Northwest Freeway Monday
Houston, Texas (May 21, 2019) –An elderly woman was killed Monday morning in a traffic accident involving three vehicles in Houston, according to police.
The deadly crash occurred at about 11:40 a.m. Monday, May 20 at the intersection of Gessner Road and Northwest Freeway.
Police said a Ready Refresh refillable water truck was heading northbound on the feeder road near Gessner when its driver failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into the right side of a silver GMC pickup truck at the intersection.
A gold Toyota passenger car was also struck in the collision.
Firefighters responded to the scene and extricated the parties who were trapped inside the wrecked pickup truck.
A 79-year-old woman, who was in the passenger side of the pickup truck, was taken to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The male driver of the pickup truck sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash.
The operator of the water truck was expected to be OK.  No one else was injured in the accident.
An investigation into the wreck is underway.
