Elderly Woman Seriously Injured in Houston Three-Vehicle Crash at Briar Rose and Seagler

Houston, Texas (February 11, 2020) – An elderly woman was severely injured on Monday after her car was hit by a 14-year-old driver in Houston, officials said.

The crash happened on Monday, February 10, at the intersection of Briar Rose and Seagler.

Officials said an off-duty police officer was in his personal car when he first spotted five young individuals inside a vehicle on the Beltway. The officer got behind the suspect and confirmed over the radio that the car had been stolen on Sunday. He relayed his location to Houston police.

The officer followed the suspect, a 14-year-old boy, as he exited the Beltway at Briar Forest. The driver figured out that he was being followed by the officer, and he sped away.

The teen ran two stop signs at Briar Rose and Seagler, and he hit a Toyota Tacoma and a Lexus.

An elderly woman in the Lexus was taken to the hospital with severe injuries.

The occupants of the Tacoma were not seriously injured.

The 14-year-old boy was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and endangering a child passenger.

Another juvenile passenger in the stolen car attempted to run from the scene but was arrested and charged with evading on foot.

The crash remains under investigation.

We hope the injured victim recovers quickly.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws or statues which were violated.
