Elia Guerrero Killed in Austin County Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 159 near Bellville

Austin County, Texas (July 21, 2022) – A woman was killed Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash near Bellville, according to the troopers.

The fatal crash happened around 2:25 a.m., July 17, on State Highway 159.

Troopers said a 2013 Lincoln MKX driven by Jill McGinty, 49, of Bellville, was heading westbound on the highway when it crossed the center stripe into the eastbound lane and struck a 2015 Ford Explorer.

Both vehicles ended up in a ditch on opposite sides of the roadway.

Elia Guerrero, 34, of Bellville, was in the Explorer and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, Ruben, survived the crash. A GoFundMe has been created to help with the funeral expenses.

McGinty also survived the crash.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
