Elia Orlando Killed in Harris County Pedestrian Accident on Rankin Road

Harris County, Texas (December 11, 2022) – A mother was fatally hit by a vehicle Friday night in north Harris County, according to the deputies.

The deadly accident happened around 11:45 p.m., December 9, in the 530 block of Rankin Road.

Deputies said Elia Orlando was walking westbound with her husband, Anthony Orlando, with their two children along the shoulder in the grass. Elia stepped onto the road, yelling at a speeding vehicle that had passed and was struck by a westbound Porsche Cayenne SUV.

Elia was taken to HCA Houston Northwest Hospital with serious injuries, where she later died.

Anthony’s left arm was hit by the passenger side mirror, and he was taken to HCA Houston Northwest Hospital for treatment.

The children were uninjured in the crash.

The Porsche driver stopped at the scene and called 911. She didn’t show signs of intoxication.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the crash.
