Elizabeth Ann Rodriguez Seriously Injured in East El Paso Two-Vehicle Crash on Viscount Boulevard and Hawkins Boulevard

El Paso, Texas (October 2, 2020) – A woman was seriously in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday night in East El Paso, according to police.

The crash happened on September 29, at the intersection of Viscount Boulevard and Hawkins Boulevard.

Police said Elizabeth Ann Rodriguez, 44, was driving a Hyundai Elantra in the far-right, turn-only lane of the 8800 block of Viscount Boulevard. She failed to turn right and entered the intersection with a red light, and the Elantra collided with a Jeep Liberty that was traveling southbound on Hawkins Boulevard.

Rodriguez was taken to University Medical Center with severe head trauma and was listed in critical condition.

The Jeep driver, a 55-year-old woman, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators said alcohol, failure to obey a traffic control device, and red light violation were factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
