Elizabeth Bergen Killed in Howard County Motorhome Crash on FM 700 near US 87

Howard County, Texas (September 2, 2021) – According to the Texas DPS, one person was killed, and another was injured on August 24 after a motorhome and an 18-wheeler collided in Howard County.

The fatal crash happened on FM 700 near US Highway 87, north of Big Spring.

DPS said Elizabeth K. Bergen, 74, of Seminole, was driving a motorhome eastbound on the highway when she failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign and crashed into an 18-wheeler driven by Ishmael Herrera, 48, of Lamesa.

The road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the crash.

Bergen was killed in the crash.

Herrera sustained incapacitating injuries in the crash.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
