Eric Ramirez Seriously Injured in Swisher County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 928

Swisher County, Texas (October 28, 2020) – One person was killed, and another was seriously injured in a head-on collision Monday morning in Swisher County, northwest of Kress, according to DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 4:40 p.m., October 26, on FM 928.

DPS said Eric Ramirez, 30, of Tulia, was driving a Chevy Silverado eastbound on the highway while Tommy Day, 68, of Plainview, was driving a Dodge Caravan westbound.

Ramirez lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway, crossed over the center stripe into westbound traffic, and crashed head-on into the Caravan.

Day, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ramirez was taken to Plainview Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

The Texas Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating the crash.
