Ethan Smith Hit, Killed by Semi-Trailer on US 259 in Nacogdoches County

23-Year-Old Ethan Smith Killed in Nacogdoches County Pedestrian Accident on US 259

Nacogdoches County, Texas (February 26, 2020) – The pedestrian who was fatally hit by an 18-wheeler Friday morning in Nacogdoches County has been identified as 23-year-old Ethan Smith, of Nacogdoches, according to the police.

The accident took place at about 11: 00 a.m. February 21, on US 259, north of Nacogdoches.

According to a preliminary investigation, Luis Moreno, 33, of Laredo, was driving a 2010 International truck tractor semi-trailer southbound on the highway while a disabled vehicle was parked on the southbound shoulder.

The driver of the disabled vehicle, Smith, walked into the outside lane of the highway and was struck by the 18-wheeler.

Smith was killed in the crash.

Moreno was uninjured in the crash.

An investigation is underway.
