Fernando Gonzalez among Two Men Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Gulf Freeway; Lupe Longoria Arrested

Houston, Texas (November 27, 2019) – Two people were killed after they were hit by a vehicle Saturday morning in Houston, according to the police.

The deadly accident occurred at about 1:10 a.m., November 23, on the southbound lanes of Gulf Freeway (I-45) near the Cullen exit.

Police said a Nissan Versa was struck by an unknown vehicle that left the scene. While the Nissan was stalled in a lane on the freeway, it was rear-ended by a Nissan Altima.

The two drivers got out of their vehicles to exchange information and were waiting near the HOV concrete barrier while a wrecker blocked the lane of traffic.

That is when a speeding Toyota CHR driven by Lupe Longoria, 27, hit both pedestrians.

The impact threw both pedestrians into the HOV lane.

A 45-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he later died.

One of the victims has been identified as Fernando Gonzalez.

Longoria was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was released after paying $100 bond.

An investigation is ongoing.
