Firefighter Armando Lopez Seriously Injured in El Paso Hit-and-Run Crash on Transmountain Road (Loop 375); Shiloh Danielle Hutchings Arrested

El Paso, Texas (February 27, 2020) – The suspect who was involved in a hit-and-run accident that left a firefighter injured earlier this month in El Paso has been arrested, according to the police.

Shiloh Danielle Hutchings, 46, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, February 25.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, on Transmountain Road (Loop 375) at the Resler Exit.

Police said El Paso firefighter Armando Lopez was part of a team that had responded to a crash when he was struck by a vehicle.

Lopez was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but in stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle, Hutchings, fled the scene. 

Hutchings was arrested on Tuesday at a hotel on Dyer Street. The arresting officers also found the involved vehicle, a blue 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe with no plates, at a business on Rushing Street.

Hutchings was being held in the El Paso County downtown jail on a $100,000 bond on a charge of accident involving serious bodily injury.

Hutchings has past criminal charges, including assault causing bodily injury, property theft, drug possession, drunk driving, driving without a valid license, and driving without insurance. 

The crash remains under investigation.
